Coffins left damaged by badgers
25 March 2008- BBC News
A Gloucestershire churchyard has been damaged and several graves dug up, by
badgers. The creatures have damaged about seven graves at St Lawrence Church in
Cheltenham.
Martin Webb, whose father and grandmother are buried at the site, said: "It's
not a pleasant thing to see. It is extensive damage."
No measures can be put in place before summer to prevent more damage as the
badgers are protected.
The Reverend David Eady, of St Lawrence Church, added: "Because of the terms
of the Badger Act and the time of the year, we can't get a licence for them to
be moved until June."
