Badgers found shot dead at sett
25 Apr 2005 - BBC News
Three badgers have been found shot dead on land in North Lincolnshire, police
have said.
They were found near a sett which appeared to have been disturbed, on private
land in the Riby area.
Police are appealing for landowners, farmers and gamekeepers to look out for
anyone acting suspiciously.
Lincolnshire's force wildlife crime officer, Pc Nigel Lound, said: "It's rare
to find badgers which have been killed illegally."
They are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Protection
of Badgers Act 1992.
