AboutBadgerland
SoftwareThe software used to develop this site includes Microsoft FrontPage (97, 98, 2000 and 2003), Microsoft Image Composer, Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Word 97, 2000, 2003, Adobe Acrobat Writer/Exchange, Micrografx Designer, CorelDraw and other graphics/layout utility packages. Screen Layout and DesignWe have adopted the "Master Borders" approach. This means that you always have a consistent Top Border for each section of the web-site (with links to other major sections), and a fixed Bottom Border (with our address and contact details). You also have a variable Table of Contents on the left - this changes to reflect where you are within the web-site. As you explore deeper into the site, the Table of Contents will expand, so you always know where you are. It also gives you a flavour of just how much information we have on our site. We have placed advertisements on the web-site, as the income from these helps pay for the running costs of the site. If you print any of the pages from our web-site onto paper, these adverts should not appear. In this way, you can produce "advert-free" materials for children in schools and colleges. Also, if you print any pages from the Badger Groups section, the only address which will print is that of the badger group. Site SpeedObviously we want our web site to appear as quickly as possible for all our visitors - we don't want you to get bored waiting for things to happen! However, there are a few "slow" pages. These generally contain a lot of pictures - we have marked these at the top of the page, so you can click on another link if you really don't want to wait. We have deliberately avoided the use of plugins which can slow the downloading speed or the ability to view the site (e.g. we do not use Flash animations). However, we have added some extra information as Adobe Acrobat PDF files. To make use of these optional files, you will need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. This is available as a "free" download from www.adobe.com or on most Cover CDs from many consumer oriented Computer Magazines. We have assumed that you have a 57.6K modem or quicker. We are sorry if yours is slower, but we believe that at least 95% of users now use 57.6K modems or quicker as at October 2006. Screen ResolutionWe have assumed you are using a screen resolution of 768*1024 or better. As at June 2007 we believe that more than 90% of screens meet this requirement. If you are using 600*800, we regret to say that you may have to put up with some horizontal scrolling on some pages. However, most of the important information is on the left or centre of a page, so you probably won't miss a great deal if you ignore anything you can't see on the right of the screen. |
