Night Vision

A "Night Vision" system is an electronic optics system that
gathers infra-red information from a night-time scene, converts what it
sees into a small visible image, and shows it on a sort of mini-TV
screen so you can see it.
Sometimes known as "see-in-the-dark" systems, they can be
very useful so you can see in almost total darkness; and in poor light
if your own night-vision is poor.
In terms of badger watching, we reckon that you are normally best to
get onto your observation site before dusk. As it moves through dusk and
into darkness, your eyes will normally adjust, so you
may find you don't actually need such systems. However, they can be
useful as they can allow you to watch badgers in darker conditions; and
they do make it that little bit safer for you, when you are having to
walk back through a woodland in the pitch dark (without a torch).
You may also be able to buy these systems from outlets such as:
- Jessops and other good photo/video stores
- ebay.co.uk, although make
sure you are buying the model you want from a supplier with a very
good feedback reputation. You can search ebay with the following
