Arrests after badger sett inquiry

18 April 2007 - BBC News

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of interfering with a badger sett.

The arrests followed a tip-off to police that a badger sett had been damaged in Dry Drayton, Cambridgeshire.

A 59-year-old man from Dry Drayton and a 62-year-old man from Hardwick were arrested and bailed to return to a police station on 24 April.

Police officers issued an appeal for information last week after a number of reports of disturbances and destruction of setts in the county.

Under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992 it is a criminal offence to interfere with a sett and the charge carries a maximum prison sentence of six months.
