Badger sparks a rescue operation08 Jun 2005 - BBC NewsA baby badger sparked a three-hour rescue operation in Stoke-on-Trent involving police, the fire service and a local pet shop. Bodger was spotted at the back of a post office on Tontine Street in Hanley in the early hours of Wednesday. Police thought he was too young and needed to be looked after but Bodger tried to evade capture. They called in help from a fire crew, a pet shop and badger rescue service. Bodger was released into the wild. The rescuers managed to entice Bodger into a plastic cage but he started to gnaw through it and they had to find a metal cage instead. It took almost three hours before the group were able to release him into a known badger sett near the city. For more information, please click the following link: |
