Badgers delay house building
Ananova - 19th March 2001The animals can't be moved because they are a protected species. The burrow is holding up work on a 30-house development in Hulsberg. Officials have turned to the organisation Badger and Tree for help. They hope to create a more attractive habitat nearby to entice the badgers away. A Badger and Tree spokesman said: "If we manage to simulate better living conditions nearby, they will probably move. They are already acquainted with that region since they use it as a hunting place." A village councillor said: "The administration is worried that the badgers won't leave. It's really the only place where we are allowed to build new houses. "We really hope the animal organisation can convince them to leave." |
